Erik Madden was the kind of Old School New York character you couldn’t make up. Sharp witted, slightly streetwise, and fueled by a lifelong love of the silver screen, he began writing to the great stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age. A few wrote back. That was all it took. What started as a whim became his obsession, and over the years Erik built an archive of more than 20,000 letters and signed photographs. Each envelope carried a connection to another world and another time, and together they tell the story of a man who turned his fascination into a life’s work.
